Director’s Message

  It’s my pleasure to see the newly developed Website of the Institute of Correctional Administration, Chandigarh. The Institute of Correctional Administration, Chandigarh is a premier training and research Institute catering to the training needs of the Prison officers of the region. It strives for a safer, just and humane society through empowering correctional professionals and building up partnerships for an effective criminal justice system. ICA sensitizes Prison and Police officers on latest developments in law, human rights issues, and gender sensitization with particular focus on attitudinal change and behaviour skills. Apart from conducting training programmes, the Institute also conducts number of workshops / conferences and seminars at the regional as well as national level on relevant contemporary issues of correctional administration and criminal justice to the functionaries of criminal justice system. Eminent experts from various disciplines   are invited as resource persons for the training programs / workshops. The Institute has good infrastructure to meet basic requirement of trainees / officers.         It provides vital professional inputs to the Government of India as well as State Governments for formulation of policies in this field. In addition, ICA also undertakes research studies in the areas of Criminal Justice System.

The Institute has always been getting a positive feedback about its training programmes and research activities .I hope all the stakeholders will benefit from the website which disseminates information about ICA. We look forward to your views and do   exchange ideas to help develop   the Institute to become a Centre of Excellence for Prison and Correctional Training and Research.
